Crow speedLiner Hybrid Bicycle Review

I bought the Crow speedLiner because I was looking for a bicycle suitable for fitness and longer rides. On paper, it looks like a good option, especially with its 700×35C tyres. However, after using it, I was disappointed with the quality of some of its components.

The biggest issue I faced was with the bottom bracket. Within less than a month, it started making a noticeable “tak-tak-tak” sound while riding. For a bicycle intended for fitness and regular riding, I expected better durability from such an important component.

The rear shifter and derailleur also were not properly tuned when the bicycle was delivered to me. Because of the poor adjustment, I experienced shifting problems while riding. More seriously, the crank arms were not properly tightened from the beginning and eventually came off while I was riding. This is a major concern because proper assembly and tightening are essential for rider safety.

Another thing I would consider before buying this bicycle is the fork. For a hybrid bicycle mainly intended for fitness and road riding, I would personally prefer a rigid fork, or at least a suspension fork with a lockout. A heavy suspension fork without a useful lockout can add unnecessary weight and make road riding less efficient.

Because of these issues, I would not recommend the Crow speedLiner for someone specifically looking for a reliable fitness hybrid, at least based on my experience with the bicycle.

Instead, I would suggest looking at alternatives such as Road Giant models in the ₹12,000 range. Some of them offer an aluminium frame and a rigid fork, which can make more sense for fitness and road riding. An aluminium frame can also provide a significant weight advantage over a heavy steel frame.

Overall, the Crow speedLiner has some good features, particularly its 700×35C tyres, but the component quality and assembly issues I experienced made me disappointed with the bicycle. If reliability is your priority, I would recommend comparing other options before buying it.
